What/who?

The Cardboard League is a name for the loose grouping of people who play boardgames in Lee County in southwest Florida.

Where?

The core group meets most Saturdays at The Exiled Hive, a local trading card store in North Fort Myers.

We have previously met at other locations such as the Del Prado Perkins and The Dragon’s Lair, among others.

More about The Exiled Hive It is primarily a trading card store dealing in Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, and some board games and tabletop RPGs. They sell snacks and drinks on premises, too. The front play area has 32 seats. A private room that seats 8 is also available for rent at $10/hour.

When?

We meet Saturdays, when The Exiled Hive opens at 14:00 hours. Usually we play until 00:00 hours (midnight). People come and go as they please, but games might be underway if you arrive late. The Exiled Hive usually closes at 02:00 on Saturdays.

What do we do?

The Cardboard League’s core group plays all sorts of board games. See an incomplete sample list of games we’ve played below. We have very varied tastes.

We usually open the session with smaller games, then break into groups for heavier games.

Once someone meets you in person, you will be invited into the private “Members” chatroom instead of the public one.

Notes if you’re coming:

Changes to the venue, time, or attendance are discussed in the members chat, and may or may not be posted in the public welcome chat.

Children?

Not really. Sure, we’ll play some games with an under 16. And there might even be some members who will be happy to do more! But overall, this is a group geared towards adults. Some games may also be unsuitable for children for various reasons.

Other groupings

The core group that meets Saturdays is called the Gold Division.

There is a related group that meets on Tuesdays at the North Fort Myers Recreation Center, 10:00-16:00, called the Silver Division. In the summer the meeting location changes. Send a message for more information.

There is a closely related group that meets Thursdays at Cool Comics & Games in the evening, Wood Division.

There is a closely related group that meets Fridays at North Fort Myers Perkins, Wheat Division.

There is a closely related group that is looking for meets around Lehigh Acres, Sheep Division.

There is another group that meets Tuesdays at the Northwest Regional Library, Stone Division.

There is another group that meets every third Sunday of the month at the Estero Recreation Center.

Many of these groups have a presence on meetup.com. Meetup does not typically reflect actual attendance.

Be aware of the local board game convention, the Big Game Bash https://biggamebashlive.com/, which happens irregularly, but more than twice per year.
