What/who?
The Cardboard League is a name for the loose grouping of people who play boardgames in Lee County in southwest Florida.
Where?
The core group meets most Saturdays at The Dragon’s Lair, a local trading card store. The Dragon’s Lair is a quality and gracious host to our meets, which has ample table space and seating. It is first and foremost a Magic: The Gathering shop, sometimes hosts Yu-Gi-Oh!, and also sees wargamers and other tabletop gamers. They sell MTG cards, MTG accesories, MTG sleeves, dice, some miniatures, and some other similar products. I believe they also buy some MTG cards. They can also pre-order and order board games for you. There are also private rooms available for rent at $10/hour, 4 hour minimum.
Dragon's Lair address

We meet Saturdays, when the Dragon’s Lair opens at 14:00. Usually we play until 20:30 or 22:00, sometimes 00:00. The Dragon’s Lair usually closes at 02:00.
What do we do?
The Cardboard League’s core group plays all sorts of board games. See an incomplete sample list of games we’ve played below. We have very varied tastes.
Join?
We’d love to have you join us!
- It’s preferred that you join the chatroom and write a message that you’re interested.
- You can also simply show up at the listed time.
To join the chatroom, you’ll have to make a Matrix account a.k.a. an Element account.
More about Element
Element is messaging software available on all platforms. It’s available for web browser, desktop, and mobile. It is free and open source.
Best practice:
- Create an account at https://app.element.io
- Download the ‘Element - Secure Messenger’ app
- Send a message to @augflow:matrix.org
Once someone meets you in person, you will be invited into the private chatroom instead of the public one.
Notes if you’re coming:
- You need not bring games, but bringing them is also cool.
- Many of us bring a snack or small meal we can eat at the session.
- There are also nearby food outlets, including a buffet next door.
- The Dragon’s Lair also sells snacks & drinks.
- It can sometimes be cold. It can sometimes be warm.
- The noise level is often quite high.
- Music is also played starting in the evening.
Children?
Not really. Sure, we’ll play some games with an under 16. And there might even be some members who will be happy to do more! But overall, this is a group geared towards adults. Some games may also be unsuitable for children for various reasons.
Other groupings
There is a closely related group that meets on Tuesdays at the North Fort Myers Recreation Center, 10:00-16:00. In the summer the meeting location changes. Send a message for more information.
